This weekend was absolutely beautiful. As much as I love summer, fall is definitely my favorite season of the year. And, boy, did it finally feel like fall. Fall is my favorite season, because the weather is perfect for outdoor sports, specifically my favorites - running and cycling. Thus, I decided to take my trusty road bike and new cycling shoes out for a long 17 mile bike ride on the Cape Cod rail trail this weekend.
I was so psyched for the weather that I cranked out 17 miles with no problem, on a 8.5 mile out-and-back course. I had to stop to take a couple pictures after about 11.5 miles to show you the beautiful lake and beaches I got to view and ride by twice at the 5.6 mile mark in Harwich.
I was absolutely psyched to see the cute little sand areas by the lake. There were many piers, boats, and a lot of chairs to sit in.
I especially liked the charcoal grill I saw, because I don't think there is anything better than sitting by the lake by a campfire making smores.
Sadly, a few signs caught my eye, and they all said "Private". I quickly realized that this probably wouldn't stop me from using these quaint little beaches next summer/fall, but it was still disheartening!
Looking across the street from the rail trail, I realized that these private beaches were probably only accessible to the people who live in these ADORABLE cottages in Harwich. I quickly decided that I either had to get a prestigious job to buy one of these houses one day or I needed to make friends with the residents really fast!
Regardless, it was an invigorating workout, and I definitely built up a sweat! Cape Cod is amazing in the summer, but it is still just as beautiful in the fall. I can't wait to hit up the rail trail again soon!
