Road to Recovery

For the past few months, I have been suffering from a pinched nerve which occurred approximately 2 weeks before the half marathon I was training for, which was going to be my first half marathon ever.  It was completely devastating to work so hard for something and fall short right before the event.  As any runner can tell you though, this is the nature of the beast.

I've had my fair share of injuries - an MCL tear in a high school soccer game, concussion while going off a ski jump, patellofemoral pain syndrome (Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point explains this injury very well here), plantar fascitis, and a stress fracture in my ankle - but the pinched nerve was by far the most painful injury to date.  The devastation of missing my half marathon was way worse than the pain though.  After all these injuries, trust me, it does not get any easier.  I wallowed in self pity for a couple weeks, until I decided to do something to keep my mind off of it.  And that, my friends, is when In The Pink of Condition was born!

After all of that bad news, it is definitely time for some good news: I am feeling a lot better and pain free!  I hope to start up running again soon, and I am so excited!  Running and athletics have been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I really miss it.  Hopefully yoga, if not a short run, will be in order when I am in Cape Cod this weekend!  Finally I can start writing some fitness and running posts, the real reason for this blog!

Question of the Day:
Have you ever had a running injury?  What tips do you have for other runners going through the same issue?

TGIF and xoxo!
