My boyfriend, John, asked me on an impromptu dinner date on Friday evening at the Sushi Samba location on Park Avenue. I was cuckoo bananas with excitement about the sushi adventure in which I was about to partake.
Once we entered, I immediately loved the decor and the ambience. The place was very cute with a fun vibe. There was a second room in the back (not pictured) which was darker and super swanky, with tables surrounded by couches.
Once we sat down, cocktails were obviously the first order of business. I ordered the Samba Juice, which was raspberry and watermelon infused rum, açai, passionfruit, créme de banana, and guava. Delish!
Our waiter brought us Edamame and Kumomoto oysters which we scarfed down so quickly that there was no chance for a picture. We then ordered some sake and the rest of our dinner.
For dinner, we split the steamed scallop dumplings and the Samba park roll which contained lobster, since I am the biggest lobster lover of all time.
My personal favorite dish, and John's favorite as well, was the braised short ribs with boniato puree, trumpet mushroom, and karashi su miso. The meat was so juicy and melted in my mouth with eat bite.
How cute are those wheel chips too?! In all, I had a wonderful dining experience, and I would definitely come back again. It was a bit pricey, but what can you expect from a popular NYC restaurant? :-)
Question of the Day:
Have you been to NYC before? If so, what are some of your favorite restaurants?
