When I think of Victoria's Secret Angels, I think of very slim and tall models with beautiful flowing locks. Every December, when I watch the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on TV in my stretchy sweat pants, I regret every hamburger and piece of cheesecake that I devoured during the year. What I didn't realize is that in their contracts with VS, these models are expected to be "healthy and muscular." Any sign of frailty could cost them their contract, since VS is marketing towards the average consumer. They do not want to portray a message that could affect the body image of their buyers.
First, I'm shocked to think there is anyone skinnier than Adriana Lima and the other Angels. In all seriousness though, I'm actually happily surprised by Victoria's Secret's policies towards the look of their models. Not only are they concerned about their models' health, but they are also concerned about their customers. They know that their models are in the spotlight and that women want to look like them, so I'm happy they are being a responsible business. What do you think?
